How it works

The plain-language version.

Screen Guardian is a wrapper around a feature you already own — Apple's Screen Time. Below is exactly how we use it, step by step.

Screen Time can block adult content on any iPhone. The problem is that Screen Time is controlled by a passcode you set — a passcode you can change any time you want. In a moment of weakness, you will change it, and the block will be gone.

Screen Guardian removes exactly one thing: your ability to change that passcode.

The setup, step by step

  1. You create an account and pick a duration. Between 7 and 365 days. You tell us why you're doing this, in one sentence — we save it and echo it back on your dashboard so future you remembers what past you decided.
  2. We generate a random passcode. Four digits, chosen randomly on the server. It gets encrypted with a key we hold and never leaves the server as plaintext.
  3. You enter that passcode on your iPhone. Through a voice-guided flow that plays each digit into your ear as you tap it in. Nobody watching your screen sees the digits, and neither do you.
  4. You configure Screen Time. The wizard walks you through Apple's Settings app one screen at a time — turning on content restrictions, disabling app removal, closing the Apple-ID-swap bypass, and a few other doors.
  5. You attest and activate. Three acknowledgments and a typed COMMIT. That's the moment your commitment becomes active and the passcode is locked away for the full duration you chose.

What happens during the commitment

Nothing, from our end. Apple's Screen Time blocks adult content on your iPhone. If you try to disable it, you're asked for a passcode you don't have. That's the whole system.

Your dashboard shows the days remaining and your reason for starting. Nothing you browse or don't browse is logged anywhere — the filter runs on your device before any request goes out.

What happens when the commitment ends

On the unlock date, we release your passcode to you and walk you through a short teardown wizard if you want to reverse the Screen Time changes. There is deliberately no early unlock: no button, no email, no partner-approved override. That's the promise.

What we deliberately don't do

  • We don't install an app on your iPhone.
  • We don't run a VPN or proxy your traffic.
  • We don't log browsing history.
  • We don't sell data. There are no third-party trackers on this site.
  • We don't claim to be unbreakable — see the honest loopholes page.

Try it once.

Ten minutes with your iPhone in front of you is enough to know whether this is the right shape for you.

Free to try. You can abandon setup any time before activation.
